چکیده

We present a novel HMM based approach to simultaneous segmentation of vessel walls in Lymphatic confocal images. The vessel borders are parameterized using RBFs to minimize the number of tracking points. The proposed method tracks the hidden states that indicate border locations for both the inner and outer walls. The observation for both borders is obtained using edge-based features from steerable filters. Two separate Gaussian probability distributions for the vessel borders and background are used to infer the emission probability, and the transmission probability is learned using a Baum-Welch algorithm. We transform the segmentation problem into a minimization of an s-excess graph cost, with each node in the graph corresponding to a hidden state and the weight for each node being defined by its emission probability. We define the inter-relations between neighboring nodes based on the transmission probability. We present both qualitative and quantitative analysis in comparison to the popular Viterbi algorithm.

Better Foreground Segmentation Through Graph Cuts

For many tracking and surveillance applications, background subtraction provides an effective means of segmenting objects moving in front of a static background. Researchers have traditionally used combinations of morphological operations to remove the noise inherent in the background-subtracted result. Such techniques can effectively isolate foreground objects, but tend to lose fidelity around...

A Novel Sampling Approach in GNSS-RO Receivers with Open Loop Tracking Method

Propagation of radio occultation (RO) signals through the lower troposphere results in high phase acceleration and low signal to noise ratio signal. The excess Doppler estimation accuracy in lower troposphere is very important in receiving RO signals which can be estimated by sliding window spectral analysis. To do this, various frequency estimation methods such as MUSIC and ESPRIT can be adopt...

Global Forcing Number for Maximal Matchings under Graph Operations

Let $S= \{e_1,\,e_2‎, ‎\ldots,\,e_m\}$ be an ordered subset of edges of a connected graph $G$‎. ‎The edge $S$-representation of an edge set $M\subseteq E(G)$ with respect to $S$ is the‎ ‎vector $r_e(M|S) = (d_1,\,d_2,\ldots,\,d_m)$‎, ‎where $d_i=1$ if $e_i\in M$ and $d_i=0$‎ ‎otherwise‎, ‎for each $i\in\{1,\ldots‎ , ‎k\}$‎. ‎We say $S$ is a global forcing set for maximal matchings of $G$‎ ‎if $...

Robust Tracking of Migrating Cells Using Four-Color Level Set Segmentation

Understanding behavior of migrating cells is becoming an emerging research area with many important applications. Segmentation and tracking constitute vital steps of this research. In this paper, we present an automated cell segmentation and tracking system designed to study migration of cells imaged with a phase contrast microscope. For segmentation the system uses active contour level set met...
